Useful against:

Due to their air and ground targeting, archers will help you defend against several pushes/attacks. I use my Level 7 ones against Valkyries, and with either Spear Goblins or a Musketeer they can take down a Balloon.

Useless against:

Despite their uses, they have low health points, meaning splash damage cards, i.e the Bomber or the Witch will take them out, and cards like the Mini P.E.K.K.A or the Knight will also defeat them. They also are weak against Minions.

How to use:

When they are placed behind a tank, e.g Giant, a Knight or a Mini P.E.K.K.A they will help create a devastating push that can eradicate towers.
